Design Engineer – BTV (with german)

Tasks:

  • Development of CAD models;
  • Design and modeling of flexible components, brackets, and brake components using CATIA CAD software;
  • Creation and adaptation of 3D models that meet the specific requirements of the commissioning departments;
  • Construction and design of components;
  • Development of components such as brackets, fasteners, and other components for brake and chassis components;
  • Ensuring that the components meet the requirements for strength, flexibility, and load-bearing capacity;
  • Consideration of manufacturing tolerances and material properties during development;
  • Simulation and analysis;
  • Commissioning/performing structural simulations to validate components (e.g., FEM analysis);
  • Evaluating deformations and bending behavior on components;
  • Performing service life and fatigue analyses to ensure durability and performance;
  • Prototyping and testing;
  • Collaboration with prototype construction and manufacturing to create sample parts;
  • Support for testing the developed components under real conditions (e.g., prototype construction);
  • Documentation and reporting;
  • Creation and maintenance of technical drawings and parts lists;
  • Documentation and reporting;
  • Creation and maintenance of technical drawings and parts lists;
  • Documentation of development processes, test reports, and simulation results;
  • Ensuring compliance with design guidelines and documentation in VOOFit for release preparation (Checklists for design guidelines are mandatory for VOOFit documentation);
  • Coordination and communication with other departments;
  • Collaboration with the manufacturing, quality management, purchasing, and SE team leaders;
  • Participation at the request of the SE-TL in coordinating component requirements and manufacturing processes with suppliers and external partners;
  • Optimization and further development of existing components;
  • Continuous analysis and improvement of existing components in terms of cost efficiency, performance, and manufacturability;
  • Implementation of feedback from tests and internal departments to optimize designs;
  • Maintenance of virtual vehicles;
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating virtual vehicle models within the CAD system at relevant milestones;
  • Ensuring that all parts and components are correctly integrated into the virtual vehicle;
  • Performing regular updates and changes to the virtual vehicle models based on new designs or changes;
  • Assisting in the performance of vehicle and system analyses (e.g., collision tests) in the virtual environment;
  • Maintenance and administration of virtual vehicle databases to ensure the integrity and consistency of vehicle models across different development phases;
  • Specification KVE;
  • Responsibility for the timely release of all relevant components, including the creation and maintenance of release documentation up to AFO001;
  • Ensuring that all components have undergone the necessary tests and validations and that all necessary release steps are completed on time to ensure smooth production and delivery of the vehicle.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all developed components meet quality standards and can be used safely in automotive applications;
  • Responsibility for compliance with design guidelines;

  • Ensuring that all components are developed and tested within the specified time frame;

  • Responsibility for cost control in component development, particularly with regard to material selection, manufacturing costs, and process optimization;
  • Compliance with industrial standards and regulations;
  • Responsibility for compliance with relevant technical standards and regulations;
  • Continuous improvement;
  • Responsibility for the continuous improvement of component development processes and technologies, as well as for contributing innovative ideas for optimizing products and processes;
  • Consulting and training;
  • Providing technical support to other departments or partners when it comes to the development and manufacture of components;
  • Sharing best practices and training colleagues in CAD and development processes;
  • Responsibility for maintaining and updating virtual vehicles;
  • Ensuring that all virtual vehicle models are up to date by integrating changes and updates to components into the vehicle model;
  • Responsibility for regularly maintaining virtual vehicle databases to guarantee the consistency and accuracy of models in every development phase;
  • Monitoring the updating and integration of parts and components into the virtual vehicle model, especially in the case of new development stages or changes to the physical parts;
  • Responsibility for the error-free integration of parts into the vehicle model;
  • Ensuring that all developed parts are correctly integrated into the overall vehicle model and that their functionality is validated in the virtual environment;
  • Responsibility for ensuring that the virtual vehicle models are correctly represented in simulations and analyses (e.g., crash tests, aerodynamic analyses, collision tests);
  • Responsibility for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams;
  • Responsibility for close collaboration with other departments (e.g., simulation teams, manufacturing, quality control) to ensure the integrity of the entire vehicle model;
  • Communication and coordination with other teams to ensure that changes to components and virtual vehicle models are carried out efficiently and without errors;
  • Commissioning of virtual adjustments to cable routing concepts in IPS Cable Simulation in collaboration with IPS specialists or their representatives from the project team.
