Responsibilities

  • Provide team leadership and escalation support;
  • Prepare environmental / EMC validation departmental budgets and manage spending to
    budget;
  • Seek methods to improve environmental / EMC validation efficiency and effectiveness
    including definition and tracking of KPI targets;
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of environmental / EMC test equipment
    and capabilities to support engineering development and certified environmental / EMC
    testing;
  • Ensure that programs are properly resourced (both staffing and skills required) with
    respect to environmental / EMC validation activities;
  • Ensure the local environmental / EMC validation team is trained and skilled in using
    common methodology, tools and processes;
  • Responsible for environmental / EMC validation quote response for new project
    acquisition in alignment with global strategy;
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, reward and disciplinary actions, and
    performance appraisals of direct reports;
  • Participates in continuous improvement and lessons learned efforts for products, tools,
    processes and programs;
  • Support root cause analysis of failure found during development process or in production;
  • Provides technical leadership in directing the efforts of environmental validation team in
    development and release of all relevant environmental / EMC validation deliverables in
    compliance with the product development process and customer expectations;
  • Develop relationships with external laboratories and customers including review of
    certifications and knowledge of OEM environmental test procedures;

  • Maintain and implement the ISO 17025 EMC Laboratory Quality Operating System;
  • Maintain and implement the VDA 5 Requirements on Measurement Processes and
    Measuring Systems;
  • Coordinate internal audits for the EMC Laboratory;
  • Coordinate annual Management Review of the ISO 17025 EMC Laboratory Quality
    Operating System;
  • Ensures compliance to Company procedures (e.g. Processes and Work Instructions) and
    applicable standards (e.g. ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504, ISO 26262, etc).

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Electrical/Computer Engineering (Master’s preferred);
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated technical experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a Managerial role of a technical team;
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of product development engineering practices in
    electrical engineering field;
  • Knowledge of the application and delivery of advanced electronic systems into the
    automotive industry;
  • Understanding of new technologies and cutting-edge methods in the industry;
  • Knowledge of the application and delivery of advanced electronic systems into the
    automotive industry;
  • Previous experience in verification and validation;
  • Knowledge of automotive industry specific test procedures (environmental / EMC and
    electrical);
  • Extensive knowledge of Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Network
    Analyzers, Antennas, Amplifiers, Power Meters, Power Sensors, Climatic Chambers, etc.;
  • Extensive knowledge of OEM EMC specifications (FMC1278, GMW3097, CS.00054,
    GS95002, MBN10284, TL81000, LV124 etc.);
  • Extensive knowledge of International EMC specifications (ISO & IEC);
  • Extensive experience performing RE, RI, CE, & CI tests per the above stated specifications;
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills as well as keen analytical abilities in a teamwork
    setting;
  • Working knowledge in VDA 5 Capability of Measurement Processes, Capability of
    Measuring Systems;
  • Working knowledge in structured engineering approach;
  • Working knowledge in risk management;
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC);
  • Good team and people skills, including interpersonal skills that are required to lead,
    mentor, communicate, and build the technical capabilities of a cross-functional and cross-cultural organization;
  • Able to work effectively in a global environment;
  • Able to lead and motivate a diverse team of electrical engineers and technical specialists;
  • Able to represent technical topics internally and externally;
  • Travel (domestic and international) may be needed;
  • Self-starter who can work in a fast paced and multifaceted environment;
  • Strong and effective decision-making skills;
  • Knowledge of analysis and engineering tools (i.e. requirement, change and configuration
    management tools, document control and archiving tools, modelling and analysis tools,
    etc.);
  • Knowledge of English language (verbal and written);
  • German language represents an advantage.

Overview

  • Responsible for coordination of environmental testing /EMC testing and managing all
    aspects of the environmental / EMC validation group. This include managing a team of
    environmental validation engineers, EMC Engineers, technicians and external resources
    (personal & labs) to ensure efficiency and accuracy in all their activities. Also,
    responsible to lead the European effort in developing environmental / EMC validation
    processes and methods to improve quality of work products and efficiency of the team.
  • Windchill, GEED, SAP, and GPEP Systems must be utilized to ensure activities are
    completed efficiently and on schedule to meet program expectations.
